Moyra Davey | Money Box

There is surprisingly little online information about Shark Editions, a multiples publishing venture started by John Goodwin in the early nineties when he was the Director of Printer Matter. Featured in most overviews of artists’ multiples, Shark Editions published a number of now-classic works, including a watch by Lawrence Weiner, an embosser by Maurizio Nannucci, Bottle Openers by Hans-Peter Feldmann, a bag of ‘dirty tricks’ by Mark Dion and the below boxed-work by Moyra Davey. Titled Money Box, the work consists of wooden box with a sliding lid housing photographs printed on metal plates, a magnifying glass and white cotton gloves. A ten dollar bill is used to seal the box shut. The work is published in a signed edition of 25, with three artist proofs.
